I should point out this kind of shit happened before there was TV.

We just didnt have a constant news cycle and internet back then to remind us about it. And it did not always make the police blotter.

Bad cases of self hate can often erupt in the same kind of violence with which they were inculcated when some random event triggers those feelings of worthlessness when a person is shown some kind of disrespect. We don't like it when we are told we are worthless all over again. This is why the Bible recommends a soft answer to turn away wrath and treating others with the respect you yourself would like to be shown.
