IDIE or SCSI CD-RW: What's the difference?

SCSI is better simply for the fact that it is on its own bus. However, if you buy one of the Plextor IDE's that have an "A" at the end of the model number the IDE has their "burnproof" technology which supposedly makes up for it being IDE.

If you get SCSI though, you'll need to buy a separate SCSI controller if you don't have one already. For IDE, all you have to do is use your current IDE channels built in to the motherboard.

Because SCSI drives are on a different bus, you generally will be able to do other things while you're burning CDs. For IDE drives, I would recommend stopping everything you're doing, even the screensaver, when burning.
