Identifying if the PSU is my weak point.

Okay so to cut a long story short, I have recently rebuilt my rig in sig with a dual loop watercooling setup. When everything was assembled it didn't POST and I have narrowed it down to either the motherboard, PSU or CPU (the watercooling is not the problem and nothing has leaked so don't ask :p). I have grown to dislike my PSU (Hiper Type R 730W Modular seen here) for the stupid placement of the modular cables on the bottom of the PSU (making it terribly impractical having cables interfering with airflow and other components on the motherboard) and lack of 8pin connectors. I am suspicious if it can handle the new load it has placed on it. This PSU has to power 6x 120mm Yate Loon fans, 2x Laing DDC-3.2 pumps in addition to my two 3850's, 1x Sata HDD 1x DVD Drive, 1x Floppy Drive, 3 case fans and a 125w CPU- everything OC'd. Is this asking too much of my 730W modular PSU? I wouldn't have thought it would....in fact I would think it would be more than capable, thats why I am here to identify if my problem lies in the PSU. I should note however, that when I Power on the computer all fans run and the pumps aswell so I could assume that the PSU is okay, could I not?

I have another PSU with which I could switch out to check if it is the PSU, an 'old' Antec 480W- but I don't think it would be enough, and I don't want to overload a perfectly capable backup PSU. If in the scenario that I did need a new PSU, I would be looking at the Corsair TX 750 since it appears to be a solid performer at a reasonable price- good choice?

Any help appreciated.

You need a new PSU. Nither have the connectors you need for the 3850s. Hiper isn't exacly a top quality PSU. A good quality 750W PSU is enough for your system but the hiper just isn't able to keep up with the demand of your system. Not to mention the Mothbaord may be having issue with 4 gigs of ram. You may need to drop it to 2 gigs for now then up the ram voltage so it can handle all 4 dimms. But i would still recommend a new PSU or just not OC the system at all.

Perhaps I should have clarified. I had this rig up and running no problem prior to taking it apart to install the watercooling. The 3850's were fine since they only required 1x 6pin connector each, and the motherboard was running fine with 4x1GB, it's only since the rebuild that I have had problems. I have since fired it up with just 2GB but still a black screen and a no go so I ruled out the ram.

I agree the Hiper may not be up to the task, but still why would the fans and pumps all work when I power on, yet nothing else (no picture)? Would that not mean that power is indeed being delivered to where it's needed?

I can't really find anything better in quality and price than the Corsair TX750...would an Antec Quattro 850 be worth the extra $?

Double check all your connection. If you have to unplug and replug in everything. You may even go as far as pulling everything out of the case and setting it up on a peice of cardboard to make sure there is no grounding problems.

Yes, I have been dreading removing everything (means draining the WC system)- but I guess it is probably required. I have double checked and replugged in all connectors about 3 times. I should also note that my PSU has only 3 Molex connectors directly from the PSU. These connectors are then branched off via a myriad of Splitters, now would having too many splitters on the same rail cause a problem?

Thanks for the help.
