does anyone know a way of determining the version, manufacturer, etc. of a video card that is not installed?...... i aquired this card in the "for sale" section from a trade. the card was listed as "sgi vre 64mb ddr quaddro"..... i can't find anything on google for "sgi" video cards. i have tried searching google using various combinations of the markings and stickers on the card with no luck. i would like to learn which quaddro version the card is, and hopefully, the actual manufacturer. i can supply any information from the stickers/markings on the card. i appreciate any help, thanks in advance......:)

okay, to start, this is obviously an nVidia Quadro card. VRE stands for Voltage Regulator Enhanced. SGI is Silicon Graphics Incorporated.

The Quadro 1 was only in SDR flavors, so this isn't it. The Quadro2 EX and MXR were only made in SDR flavors as well, so we can eliminate them; as well they are only available in 32Mb versions, so definitely can't be them. The cards that this can be are the Quadro2 Pro, the Quadro DCC (based on the GeForce3), the Quadro4 550 XGL, the Quadro4 700 XGL, and the Quadro4 750 XGL. The Quadro4 900 XGL is only available in 128Mb flavors.

To help me narrow it down, any more information would be greatly appreciated.

Hope this helps,

i'm not real sure which is the fcc #. i'll try to describe the markings on the card and stickers. on the top (fan side) it has "BRD-010-E11-A" silk screened on the board, next to that is a small sticker with "2.10.03.01.06" below a bar code.on the back side of the card is a small sticker "VRE", right below that is the largest sticker "VG 54AB94800302500701AQ"......... there are two small stickers also on the back side "50011-2700-80A" and "00822000137"....... i really appreciate the help with this, i'd sure like to know exactly which card i have. if any more info would help, or a pic?, let me know..... thanks again for the help..:)

Hey!

Thanks for the pics. I am now almost positive that it is the Quadro DCC, which is based on the GF3 core!

i thought that's probably what it was, but couldn't find anything to confirm it. any ideas how this thing will perform compared to my elsa card? i don't do a lot of gaming, but i do use photoshop, and a lot of imaging and 3D animation software. i sure appreciate the help....:)
