Maetryx here,

I'm not a big anime fan, but some of it is really good. I like Akira a lot. I don't like Sailor Moon at all. I liked Fist of the North Star but I suspect it has poor replay value. Ranma 1/2 is mostly too silly for me. Vampire Hunter D was too melodramatic but decent. The Professional was a riot even though it was supposed to be all cool (in fact, because it was supposed to be all cool). I think I saw a 3x3 Eyes once, but I don't remember anything about it. Same with Angel Cop. [Wow. A lot of this came back to me as I typed. I've seen more than I realized. Maybe I *am* a big anime fan.]

Okay. Now you know all the anime that I have seen... EXCEPT FOR ONE. There was this really cool one and I can't remember the name of it. It had these women cyborgs or androids that were some kind of military grade super soldiers. I remember that the lead military guy that was trying to track them down (they escaped or something) was like all untouchable during the fights. He didn't hardly duck or dive for cover or anything. But one of the robot women self destructed and he just kind of hit the deck. She exploded with a bunch of spikey thingies that killed some of the people around him and he just got up like nothing happened and carried on. Everyone around him was all nervous and scared and he just carried on. He had gray hair and huge shoulders.

The other scene I remember (and I think it was from the same anime) was a dune buggy racing up the side of a falling building. The effect was so well done, that even though it was a cartoon, I suffered actual vertigo the way other people get dizzy playing an FPS I guess.

Anyway, help me identify this anime please. I want to see it again.

edit: Identified below as Black Magic M66

Hmmm. The suggested titles are not ringing a bell yet. Doesn't mean it's not dead on, though, because like I said, I don't remember.

Saber Marionette
Armitage
Bubblegum Crisis

I'll probably have to rent all three to find out. I feel most hopeful about Armitage because the title is kind of serious and perhaps more easily fogotten than Bubblegum Crisis or Saber Marionette.

BTW if you want to see some incredible animation, here are some recommendations:

Ninja Scroll (awesome action, some nasty parts)
Rurouni Kenshin (LONG series but incredibly well done-gets better and better with each episode)
Totoro (great anime for kids and those who are kids at heart)

Thanks! I'll just have to assume you're right, since you said it with authority. I probably watched it on the Sci-Fi channel or something because Black Magic M66 doesn't ring a bell either :Q. Also, thanks for the list of your favorites. I was also hoping that someone could point out some better films for me.

Some of my recommendations:

Watch the Rurouni Kenshin OAV before watching the series (both are my all time fav. anime's).

Also, Cowboy Bebop is also one of my favs. I bought all 6 DVD's (cost me a bundle) cause I love it so much.

Inu Yasha, Eva, GTO are some of my favs.

Princess Mononoke, Ghost in the shell and Grave of the fireflies are some great movie. I've never seen Black Magic, so I gotta see that (if it?s made by the same guy who made ghost in the shell, its got to be good :)).

BTW, stay away from Metropolis if you can. Some people liked it, but I absolutely hate that POS (the animation was good [cept the character animation], but the story sucked).

BTW2 - I think you are officially an Anime fan now. Who would?ve though.... a red neck... ;) lol j/k ;)

It sounds like Greyd was right. I say watch Ghost in the Shell, it's a cool anime.

Now, are you talking about Vampire hunter, as in the Original, or the Remake? In the Original, which is hella old, D kinda sucks ass - the remake's awesome, though - it's done by the same people who did Ninja scroll (I suspect by looking at the art style) and I honestly think it's better then Ninja Scroll . . ..

And if you like Cowboy Bebop, try to get the Movie as well - it adds a bit to the series . . ..

SAILORMOON ROCKS!
never judge a anime by it's hacked up/editted dub.

of course sailormoon manga and live musicals are better than the anime series.

my 2 otaku cents. :)

All you had to do was ask me, I think I am the only one that brings anime over there for you all to watch. Yes, it was Black Magic M-66, but the manga Black Magic is much better. The anime is mostly a side-story to it.
