Identify 5 1/4 f\wire enclosure - edited - more info

I have this firewire enclosure, will work in win xp pro with 40 gig maxtor but not the west dig 120 gig i first tried on it.
So it works, but i'd like to find the brand and get a firmware update for it and drivers for 98se.
I'd like to use this in a win98se box i still use for older printer and scanner, even some games and other stuff, win98se is not dead yet! (I had that same install of 98SE running 8 hrs a day for 4 yrs without a re-install) Course now i only use it once in a while.

I googled the numbers(even parts of the numbers) i found on it, no luck at all.

Outside casing: Outside casing is opaque plastic, almost clear, and its got 4 blue-grey rubber feet on it.

Front:
Front is opaque grey, kind of like a light black even, with a clear on/off button on it on the right hand side.

Inside casing is metal, top slides off with some effort.

Back:
Left to right is: power, then fan, then two firewire connectors, then 2 audio connectors(chrome with white and red inserts)
It also says "FAN" right in the middle of the fan (I know, duuhh)

Numbers:
on the back: 0147 OWCMFW5R (the 5 could even be a S maybe)
stickers on back: made in China CE
Inside: TT 535FX10147HC1K0017 also 911R1.0

On the green board that services the ide connector: 000B533 290601 01281 3537-2053

But that board has only very small capacitors and even smaller chips on it.

There is another board, thats the one with the big caps on it, its got a piece of metal covering it and i would have to take it all
apart to read some numbers, except i got this:

MODEL: APD-9507-P5 I think this may only be a winding, possibly, but its got its own plastic covering, the shrink type sort of.

Can anyone help me?

Should i post a pic here and if so how would i go about doing this? I do have a good dig camera.

Thanks for any help i can get with this.
😀

Open up the enclosure and look closely for a small interface card which is attached to the IDE cable.

On this interface card you should see some microchips. Find the largest of these and type the numbers printed on the chip into Google.

This might help you identify the Firewire interface chipset limitations, etc.

Post what you find here.

Good luck!

Thanks for the help.
I did find some numbers on the board itself and i added them to my original post, these numbers here:

On the green board that services the ide connector: 000B533 290601 01281 3537-2053

But that board has only very small capacitors and even smaller chips on it.

There is another board, thats the one with the big caps on it, its got a piece of metal covering it and i would have to take it all

I am off to google those numbers, so thanks! I struck out on google, even with parts of the numbers

yes, my bridge board is similar but not the same, doesnt have as many flat black chips on it, only has 1 black square chip on it on one side, along with 2 firewire connectors, and for sure nothing else, on the other side are only a few caps and a very small something in one corner that has a very small shiny metal cover on it So, its similar but not the same.

The box is similar, but see where there are 4 bumps or some other material, a different color, they dont wrap around the edges. On mine, i dont have those 4 bumps in those spots, but it has the 4 rubber pieces on each side, total of 8, they wrap around the edges, act as rubber feet or stabilizers.

I'm only pointing this out so you have a better idea of what my case looks like.
My case is missing the door in the front, likely where the name was.

It appears i didnt ask much about this, only figured i would get the door, documentation, f\wire cable, drivers, so my fault for not asking! Had that person mentioned it was missing these items i wouldnt have bought it, still my fault for not asking at the time, just gets me as i would be more honest about it if i were selling it. Prolly too attracted by a low price!

But it works in xp but just not with 120 gig drive.

Hope someone can help me find the one I have or someone has the same unit, that would be great! With the right info, i can see if there is a firmware update to accept the 120 gig h drive, thats what i am really after, although drivers for win98 wouldnt hurt either in case i sell or trade it, never know, i like to have all available info and such on my parts.

thanks for your time!

okay, i found a sticker tucked way down inside and under and peeled it off. This gave me
REXON TECHNOLOGY CORP
google gave me this: http://www.part2.com/spec/storage/ca805pfwh.html
This gave me part # CA-805PFW1
The part number led in turn to only one place, here:

https://www.atlaz.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=AC&Product_Code=CA-805PFW

Code: CA-805PFW
they are in new york INWOOD NY toll-free 1-888-437-3329

And it appears that it is the oxford 911 chipset, which i have heard is the best. If i recall when i installed it in win xp it said it was an oxford 911

Now i have to still find drivers for win 98 if possible, maybe try windriver now i have a part# Then again, maybe i dont need drivers for firewire enclosures for win 98, will have to hook it up and find out i guess.

And i still likely need to find out where to find firmware updates for oxford 911 chipsets.

This has been a real journey, kinda fun once you get to the bottom of things, but very frustrating before that, all numbers i had were useless til now.
