looks like maybe a truck or boat. more likely boat because when you compare the size of that thing to the cars on the road, its too big.

could just be some kind of reflection or something too.

Sunken plane? lol

We can always get the number of one of the business on that street and tell them to look out their window...

It's a boat. A floating one. See the link above? There is also a boat docked next to the pier in that picture and it also has the same "sunken" or "ghostly" appearance. I think it just looks that way because of some photographic anomoly.

Most probably that is the case, I guess...

I think that happens sometimes when an object is moving and the satellite tries to capture it. I seem to recall seeing the same "ghost" effect on cars and airplanes in other areas on Google Maps.

It could be the way the sunlight reflects off the water, water vapor, or a combination of the light being distorted by the water vapor or something that gives it that ghostly appearance.

It's due to the merge of different photos sets. Look at the boat heading towards the Brooklyn Bridge, the bow has the same discolouration.

My vote goes to a old flat bed diesel truck (sunken of course). That would account for it's size and it's general shape.
