Ideas when price drop hit the market?

The prices of the 6850, 6870, and 6950 haven't changed on Newegg or Frys... I'm hoping to grab a good 6850 for around 130- 140$ possibly after mir. I know theres a msi for 150$ already.

I haven't a clue really. Could be close to spring before you see a price drop.

My suggestion, depending on your comfort level, is watching Newegg for open box deals. My 5770 was $100 when I got it...that was way back in June and they still don't retail for that price now, they were retailing ~$180 at the time. Works like a charm.

better be careful if it's shipped directly from newegg (by buying it from ebay)

because there are rumors that scumbags use stolen CCs 😵

dudeofdur, graphics card companies usually don't announce price drops in advance for a few reasons, including:

- People won't buy new cards at old price if they know waiting a few days will save big bucks.

- Companies sometimes don't plan to or want to drop pricing, but sometimes suddenly have to because of the competition.

Anyone who can guess price moves with any reliability may as well start playing the stock market.

HIS 6850 on ebay for $141 shipped. If you look at some of the seller feedback they are saying it was shipped to them directly from Newegg. Maybe they are stealth selling on ebay.

Alternately someone is turning stolen credit cards into PayPal funds. :colbert: Has it been conclusively proven that it is actually Newegg's stealth eBay account?

I can't imagine not upgrading over a $10 difference.

Also there are some great prices on Diamond 5850s ($135) and 5870s right now.

Zap, I mean this: http://www.anandtech.com/show/4137/...hd-6950-1gb-xfxs-radeon-hd-6870-black-edition
It doesn't indicate if the prices are dropped immediately. But hey 140 for a 6850 is around what they would drop it down to. This card is rated 5 stars on newegg so it seems like a win win. *edit* err wait wrong article. It was on anand a few days ago...

Colbert, I read on the comments on the sellers' ebay profile that a number of people have gotten cards from newegg. Also they have around 125 ratings all 100%... I mean sure if it was something like 20 people rating i would get suspicious... but surely 100 people can't be lying right?

lol just went ahead n got one... I dont think its gonna get a lot cheaper than $141 anytime soon... at least until end of the year

This. I wouldn't deprive myself of something over $10.

well most of them are normally 180 with a mail rebate... and who knows when those come in. What i ment was that I wouldn't mind buying it if it was 150 straight up... with like a 10- 20$ mail in rebate.

Did any1 get theirs shipped yet... I dont have any status update on the purchase from that Ebay guy with 6850s for $141... any1?
I hope it was no BS!

Guys...if you did order your 6850s from ebay, but it came from an e-tailer. consider your hand dirty 😛

But how am i supposed to know where it is coming from... until i actually get it. How am i supposed to tell if it is a scam or not... before i buy it?

you can't, just read the user review and hope none of them mentioned:

- omg it arrived w/ a newegg package or amazon (something similar)

You won't be receiving any tracking information. I ordered two cards 3 weeks ago and they came through 2nd Day Air, newegg packaging and all. Only after a day or so i noticed he added the tracking number.

I did received a packing list from newegg with my name on the shipping information, so i guess the guy just buys them directly from newegg for every order he gets.
