I am use to building my own PC's. I have been building them for over a decade. Although since my wife got my previous desktop in our divorce I have been stuck with using my laptop (which is ok with doing the day to day functions and watching the occasional movie on) but for one it is 3 years old and it weighs nearly 8 pounds. I have finally managed to save up money solely for building a new PC. I am willing to spend anywhere from 1000 to 1500 monitor included. I just need some ideas as for the components I should use.

I'd start by reading the stickies. There are some good, although slightly old parts suggestions in modoheo's thread, and some questions in Blain's thread that will help people help you.

OK, I will try that. PC's have evolved so much since i last built one, that there are some many options, and then there is the age old debates of Intel or AMD and ATI or NVIDIA

The debate over Intel vs AMD was settled with the Core 2 Dual processors.

The empire struck back. Now we must wait for the return of the Jedi before the debate fires up again.
