Ideas for raising money for charity

I am thinking about taking a semester or year off from school to do some sort of fundraising effort and to raise awareness about world hunger and other causes which I support . Anyone think of any ideas? While I enjoy old fashioned panhandling for change, I was thinking some sort of stunt/attempt which would garner attention and generous pledges.

Thanx,
Brackis

appeal to the masses with a "hunger" calendar hehe. Get a few chics or guys to snap some pics, make each month a theme like a country that needs help /w food or something. or each month have the model themed up with food that is best to donate like canned goods, crackers and other non perishables.

Have a big donation drive and a digicam or polaroid and everyone who makes a donation gets a pic and then there pic gets put up on like a website or a huge mural somewhere near campus to show they helped "Feed the Hungry 2k4" :gift:

best i can do atm....

That sounds like a good idea, I was actually thinking more along the lines of some sort of physical undertaking to get publicity etc... thanks for the idea though

Thanx,
Brackis

P.S. Same se7en from PBC/PBN ?

eat nothing but apples for a week. Document your progress.

Along the same vein, do the Atkins diet for a month and show how its negative effects parallel the nutrition problems people encounter in the third world. Double whammy, anti-Atkins and combats world hunger.

You mean raise awareness about power-hungry third world dictators who use hunger as a weapon to control their people? Cause there's no shortage of food...

I wholeheartedly agree that there is no shortage of food being cultivated in today's world, in fact I know that enough rice and wheat alone is harvested to feed every person on earth somewhere between 1500-2000 calories per day.
The dictators are one problem, and the hoarding of it by developed countries too.

I don't think you could really say developed countries are hoarding food... the US exports more food in aid than any other country in the world. The problem is getting it from the hands of the dictators into the hands of the starving.

Look at N. Korea, case in point.

As sad as it is to disagree with you, in the US farmers have been paid by Government to not grow food and/or the government has bought food from farmers to simply put in warehouses to control the food supply on the national and international markets.

Have college kids turn in beer cans to be recycled for money. Go to college campuses, get in contact with the frats. PROFIT.
