Hi guys,

I just scored a 160gb maxtor with 8mb cache and i was wondering if my intel 865gbf motherboard supports that? I saw on the intel website that it does supoort 48bit addressing. If it is true is there something i have to do to enable it becuase i already have windows xp pro sp1.

Also I was wondering what the best way to hook it up? Right now all my main IDE channels are used up on my motherboard. 1 Dvd rom, 1 cd burner, 2 60gb drives. But i do have serial ATA option on the mainboard which i thought i could use with a adapter is that correct and if so will that support the 160gb drive. I am also going to be adding another 60gb drive so I will have a total of 340gb yay! Thats a good amount for capturing.

So i could use your guys input.

Thanks.

Mike

I'd just buy a cheap PCI ATA133 card for like $20-$30 and add capabilities for up to 4 more hard drives.

I use a Promise Ultra133 in my music server, works great. You might get a Maxtor or WD branded promise card for about $20 shipped if you post a WTB in FS/FT forum, since some people have extras from buying retail drive kits.
