Now that I have a real job, I am finally looking into purchasing a winter car that isn't some 500 dollar beater. I go to you, AT garage, in search of ideas. I won't be buying until probably August or September, but I figure looking for ideas won't hurt.

My criteria are (in order of importance)
Luxury oriented car (comfortable, features)
Mid 20s gas mileage
Manual transmission

I live in the Midwest, so it may be difficult to find something that fits this. I am ok with getting an older car from the 80s as well. I'm looking to spend around 5000 dollars or so. So anyone have any fun ideas?

Hm. ~2002 Acura EL, maybe. Not much stick-shift luxury you can get for less than $5k unless it's old. Maybe a base 5th-gen Maxima.

late 90s ish Buick or Oldsmobile with 3800 engine. great drive train. quite, great interiors. I drove a 99 olds 88 LS in college in the upper peninsula of michigan and never had a problem. great in the winter and 30mpg.

forgot the manual part.... i dont think you can get one in a manual. finding something with a manual will be hard.
