What everyone needs when they go to college is.... a target giftcard.

You can buy most anything there, and you always need stuffs when you move.
 
get a regular ipod if you are going to get an ipod, most of the ipod minis have been recalled due to faulty headphone jack! IF all else fails get her toe jam and earl for sega gen 🙂

Its a tough call, i guess it depends on how well of a friend they are, and if you have $300 to spend.

If she's going off to college rather than commuting or not going... this is, surprisingly, the BEST CHOICE OF THEM ALL.

There is always a walmart near college towns and students ALWAYS find out they need something on move-in day. Rather than giving her some hunk of crap that she can't take with her to school, give her this.

I know it seems inpersonal, but tell her to save it until she moves in and she will think you are the smartest man alive. It will help offset the initial shock of realizing that books cost about $150-$350+ per term.

$300 is throwing it off the edge with a ton of bricks attached.

I don't care how good of friends I am with someone, the only occasion I might spend more than $100 on them is their wedding.
 
When we graduated High School and exchanged gifts we kept it $50 or under, $300 is pretty expensive for high school graduation gift for a friend.
 
my friends a student teacher at a high school....she tells me theres lots of girls that where jeans that cost way over 100 bucks. thats scary
