Ideally how often should i be mowing my lawn?

dug777

Lifer
Atm i do it every fortnight, weekly just seems unecessary, but that will change as we roll into spring...

how does it grow?

is it thick and bushy, or just whisps of it?

what do the ladies prefer to see down thurr on your lawn?

Depends on the type of grass and the amount of sun exposure. Contact a horticulturist in your area.

I hope your lifer thread is more interesting than this.

You should mow it when your grass is long.

i think the idea is that you want to minimise (within reason) how much you take off each time...

Hey, which one of us here is a gardener and who lives in a continent covered in desert? 😛

Every damn week, sometimes 2 or 3 depending on how much it rains. Its a pain in the ass because its 2 freakin acres on a slow a$$ riding mower. Atleast its a riding mower though.

You shouldn't mow your lawn too often because that constitutes as a disturbance to the community, and an intermediate amount of disturbances cause the most species diversity in a succession.

So it's either you mow it everyday or not often at all.

Cut it when it's long enough to need it. Don't go by the calendar. If you get lots of rain it grows faster. If you get none, obviously it doesn't. No need to cut it and waste gas just because the calendar says it's time...
