There should be a unified trading system to make sure trades go OK on and offline. Like a nice guarantee.
The service would be assimilated into all major couriers like FedEx, UPS, USPS, Airborne, DHL...etc.
How it works?
OK, well 2 people setup a trade online. Either for parts or funds.
The items would be verified when they came in...the model/sn/fccid, year and name of the items would be taken, a tradecenter personnel worker would look at all the parts and write an invoice for them. The invoice is emailed to you instantaneously; when you verify that the parts are right you email the courier and they send it to you.
The parts are packed right there at the couriers. Ofcourse, there's still a problem of testing the items because no system can be that indepth without shelling out some serious dough. Read on though...I have a solution.
As a buyer: You'd go to the courier and put money into a 2 way (u and seller) account at the little tradecenter station (human tellar) - the money would be automatically put into the sellers account after it is verified that you got everything. A one day period would be allowed for testing and returning the parts if necessary. If you keep the items for more than a 24 hour period, the money would go to the seller, however, if you return the items and they are re-verified, ie: the model numbers/FCCID/Etc is the same (to make sure you pulled no switcheroos) you'd get your money and the item would be held for shipment back to the seller (he/she would have to pay shipping back)
As a seller: You'd pick the money up at the tellar by verifying your identity as well as displaying the parts and invoice list of what you're selling/trading. The invoices are made by the 'TradeCenter' within the Couriers quarters so they can't be altered or changed at all. You'd be able to get the money only after the deal on a whole is verified. Which happens within 24 hours.
As a trader: The parts lists have to match to a T. Both would ship whenever, but the trade can only take place when the items are at the final destinations.
There would be a few prerequisites to make sure the system works. For one, each user must have a deposited amount or a credit card on file for trade deals. Since both would get the parts, if one person was a scammer, what would keep him from keeping your good parts while you get his DOA parts? In a case like that - you'd bring his parts back and if the courier contacted him and he didn't get back to the courier or you for an explanation - you'd get the cost of the parts per value, which is what you and the other person agree on before trading. Further more, to discourage 'mind changers', for a small fee the person who's selling or trading the parts could have the Tradecenter 'test' the parts. If they worked fine then the trade deal is verified and the buyer would have lost his money, the trader his parts; the only alternative is the 'reverseship®' option which would completely undo the deal - the exact same transaction would occur and you'd get ur parts or money back, and the other person would get their parts or money back, simply the same transaction in reverse.
This would be a pretty fair solution for both parties.
The process would take a maximum of 48 hours longer than your regular paypal/money order transaction, thats including complications such as the typical 'mind changer', 'scammer' or bad transaction and you may be required to pay a small fee for my E-TradeCenter® services (people have to get paid too y'know). But I can think of no safer way to trade, buy or sell from another human being without the use of an online service like Ebay, whose insurance sucks anyway, and is riddled with complications and problems.
If you find any holes or problems in this idea....discuss it here.
