Idea/Invention help

I'm trying to get rich, like most poeple. I have an idea that i think would be pretty good, it's for a food product. Not sure how i would go about making money off of this though. Like i want to pitch the idea to the Pillsbury coproration (Pillsbury Doughboy sound familiar?) or to some similar company. Not sure how i would go about doing that though. I've seen some sites that are supposed to help you out if you have an idea or invention, but they don't look too trustworthy. It's confusing. I just want to get this food product i have in mind in stores around the country and somehow make a lot of money off of it 😉 - It's just an idea, i didn't actually make the product, but i could probably do it if i needed to. Right now it's just the idea for it (which might not be all that great anyways). So what steps do i need to take to pitch this idea?

What would a lawyer do exactly?

Think this would actually be a good way to make money or not?

A lawyer would make sure none of your rights are being violated, help you file a patent and make sure no one rips you off.

Edit- I'm not sure how patents work for food products, I've heard that you can't patent them so maybe disregard that part of my post.

Okie, thanks. Is an idea all i really need to go in with or should i actually try and create the product myself? Think i could do it if needed. I could also draw what i have in mind.
