Idea for SETI benchmark

first off, we need an standard/tetsing wu that everyone can download and use. when v3.0 comes out we should download it, run it, and use the times that we get for that particular wu to set up a new benchmark page.

this way we get an accurate gauge of each computer w/o having to take into account that each wu is different. it would also help us decide which processor is the most efficient for seti.

good idea or bad idea?

Good idea. If we do this, me might be able to get Anand to start benchmarking with SETI.

Just use the Ars benchmark unit...
They already have hundreds of results with that one.

i meant for the new v3.0, since it is no longer cache dependent and fsb plays a bigger role.

i thought they just changed what kinds of
checks they did on the data.

Why not just keep using the same unit?
shouldn't matter what version of the client you are running.

what do you mean 'the same unit'? is there a standard one already? if so, i didn't know about it. if so, then keep on using it. but we should start a new benchmark page for the new client, as times/calculations differ from the old one.
