Idea for improved low-noise power supplies

I have a new idea for a quiet power supply that one might buy from Zalman. It is quiet without having very poor airflow. Imagine an Enermax dual-fan power supply, but replacing the rear fan with just some vents and without the front vents, so the 92mm fan on the bottom is forcing air over the PSU's heatsink and directly out the back. Then the 92mm fan could be thermally-controlled, and a quiet one could be used, so that the net result is a single-fan power supply with higher potential airflow than most single 80mm designs. There could be a single row of vents on the front that allow air to re-enter the case, just to add airflow. Then the fan would be mounted with rubber grommets, isolated from the housing.

What do you think about my idea for an improved ATX power supply?

Probably wouldn't work too good because heat rises. I just replace the fans in mine with panaflo's and if that is too loud for someone, they are just plain crazy.

Actually Gateway made their 200w units like this. If you've ever seen Gateway power supplies by Newton Power and Astec, they have a 92mm fan which enters in the bottom, rather than an 80mm fan that blows out the back. The air is pushed through the power supply rather than drawn out, and these power supplies also use rubber grommets to lower fan noise. These have always been fairly good power supplies as far as noise is concerned, but they are still Gateway proprietary.

And just for the record, I just so happen to be crazy.

Just fork over the money for a quietpc psu..you'll think it isn't even on when it is on...no joke.

there is a much easier way to do this.

www.heatsinkstore.com

buy whatever power suppl yyou want.

buy a arctic cooling tc1 thermal sensing cooling fan. open your power supply and re solder wires. done.

AND WHILE I"M AT IT JUST SAY NO TO SPENDING $80 on a power supply, a power supply should not cost more than a CPU or motherboard. It does not cost THAT much to build a power supply even if you use good capacitors , etc. Do NOT BUY A ZALMAN or any power supply that costs $70. it is the biggest rip off you will ever pay. I also has thermal sensing fans standard. Buy a delta or liteon, etc a big brand that oem's use and just put in your own thermistor and fan.

myself use a 250 watt liteon p4 power supply that i got through my dad since he had one at work. the cost on these things is like $12 in bulk for an OEM. this 250 watt, has better amperages on all rails than most 300 watts, and does 150 watts on the 3 and 5 volt combined.
and it keeps my voltages unbelieveably stable, my 12V rail is 12.3, 5v is 5.1, my 1.5 vcore is actually 1.54

anyways, just SAY NO to antec true power power supplies (they have an OEM make them for them, i've seen a few threads here actually point out which power supply it is at half the cost or less). enermax is pure garbage for the cost. i dont care, but gold grills and braided cables are not worth $70. the electronics inside are no better than an OEM delta or liteon etc power supply that a real OEM like a dell, HP , etc would use.
