has anyone made a floppy replacement that's all solid state?? like a thumbdrive?

here's my idea, use the Floppy cable, have the bios recognize it as a floppy disk but instead of a drive and a floppy have a USB type interface and like an 8 mb thumbdrive. or use SD or CF.

what do you guys think?

I see no reason to when we can boot off of USB or even Opticals nowadays and with Floppy port transfer speeds being so much slower and probably soon to be non existant, I guess my answer is Why?

for those damn odds and ends that require a floppy. :(

i'm having a devil of a time getting my scsi drivers installed because none of my floppies will format.

but your probably right, too little to late. if they had made it affordable 3 yrs ago it might have done ok.

Really it's just a crappy installer from MS thats the issue. They require a cd rom or network connection to install now a days but still force you to use a floppy to install card drivers? Why the heck can't we use a cd or network connection like we can for the regular install files.

Yea i hate how i have to install my RAID Drivers only from my floppy drive with XP. Why not a USB drive or a CD, I mean is it that hard to add CD-ROM support to setup. I mean the CD boots from BIOS anyway.
