Idea for another AT community site

In the tradition of the picture hosting sites and the spawn-forums, I had an idea that I would like to see implemented. Being many of us have personal weblogs, I would like to see an AT community weblog directory. Sort of like weblogs.com but geared towards the AT community.

Basically you would sign up (there should be some way to keep the sign-ups within the community) and when you update your weblog you send an XML-RPC ping to the server (most blogging clients support this). When you update your site goes to the top of the list. We can do other things like searching, indexing, profile, etc but the core functionality is basic.

I don't think any software exists that will do this out of the box, I may be wrong being I only searched for a few minutes. I would be willing to write it but I have other priorities and this may be a distraction.

The #1 question would be, "Is it even worth it?" Would anyone be interested in using it or is it a giant "meh"?

I personally think people blog here enough. ;) Seriously though, I think we need a vote first to see how many people do blogs in the first place. And personally, I'm not much of a blog-reader unless I'm REAL bored. Talking stage-2 bored... (stage-1 being to visit ATOT).

one reason is cause it's fun to see what you did or what you had going on or what you were thinking on that day, years back.

I do it to just blurt stuff out, write reviews, and work on my writing. If nobody reads it, so bet it. It's the same thing as keeping a journal with the exception that it is public.
