Ok I got my system put together and it posts and counts the ram and says Amd Athlon 900mhz and blah blah.....but it detects not ide drives.

I have an ABIT KT7 and I'm pretty possitive I put the cables in correctly.

Then you either do not have the drive jumpered correctly for master/single or you do not have it set to auto detect in the bios. Most cables are indexed so you can only insert them one way, but if it's an older style cable, it may be plugged in wrong. Check those things. It should identify the drive when it posts. If you are using one hard drive and one cdrom, you can jumper both as master, put the HD on it's own cable, on IDE port one and the CDrom on IDE port 2 on it's own cable.

What kind of HDD are they?
I had two WD drives on seperate channels that would not detect unless I took the jumpers off of the drive.

I have an IBM drive....I might try doing that by taking all the jumpers off.
