IDE to USB permissions

I have a dead windows XP laptop that I need to get someone's documents off of. I took the HDD out and connected it to my windows 7 machine via a usb adapter but her MyDocs folder is denied.

I took ownership of the MyDocs folder and am now able to browse it but I'm stil getting an access is denied error whenever I try to open any file or browse any subfolder.

I tried the checkbox for making the permission change apply to all subfolders but I just get access is denied errors when doing so.

Any ideas? I can't possibly unlock every file individually.

did you try setting the permissions for the whole drive? as in, set it at that level and see if it'll go down to the files?

load up a live cd of your fave linux distro and pull everything off no worry about file permissions

This worked perfectly thanks 🙂

Linux is also a good idea... but I try to avoid that as much as humanly possible
