IDE seems to be phased out on newer motherboards, only coming with a single IDE channel for a total of two devices, but I have seen a few IDE to SATA converters that I would be intrested in. First of all, I like the thinner cables, plus I have some 250 and 200GB HDs that I would like to keep. There are a few listed at the link below. My question is, do they actually work ok, I do not want my performance cut in half or something, or my drive to randomly show up and disappear. Also I would like to know if anyone has suggestions as to brand for these types of things. Thanks!

I'd like to know this as well, to use a SATA port for my DVD drive instead of enabling the IDE controller

I can use my older drives on SATA with the adapter.
Very satisfied with converter.

The Seriellell thingy was not compatible at all. I tried the Rosewill adaptor from Newegg, with no success. In fact, my drive croaked shortly after attempting the Rosewill. Apparently, adaptors are having more success on HDs than opticals.
