IDE to SATA adapter card

I have been thinking about getting a DVD duplicator but I found this IDE>SATA Adapter will putting the HD's on the SATA channels and keeping the DVD burners on the IDE channels allow me to do 1:1 on the fly and still use the computer without the concern of burn errors?

Or is that the purpose of buffer underun?

I'd just get an add-on PCI PATA controller like the SiliconImage-based Syba. Less than $20. shipped from Newegg (Syba brand). Much cheaper and easier than messing with adapters.

What speed are you burning at? Most of the time i say don't go over 4x and you will be fine as long as you use good media. I use only sony media when doing single layer dvds and 4x and i can mulittask just fine.

PS u you would have to use DL media if you were doing 1:1 burning which can be very expensive even today. Why not just reauthor it from hdd and put it on a single layer?
