Does anyone have any experience with the below listed enclosure? I plan on installing a Teac CD-W540E and connecting it to a Dell Inspiron 8100. Also if you have this enclosure do you happen to know if it has the Oxford FW900 or FW911 chipset, Newegg hasn't a clue.

I know this $57 combo Firewire/USB 1.1 case works with the Teac CD-W524E. I have a Panasonic LF-D311SC in it right now. That case also uses the Oxford 911 Firewire chipset (not that it really matters for a ROM drive).

You may have to get a new cable to use the thing with your Inspiron though. The Dells come with 4-pin connectors I believe. The 4 Firewire devices I've gotten come with 6-pin cables. The cable should be around $15.

You sir are a gentleman, a scholar and a drinker of fine beers!

As for not seeing an advantage to the 911 with a ROM drive yes I agree but if I at some point use a HD in this thing I'm sure I'll be happy.

As for the cable I already had one priced at Newegg for $4 but this place doesn't seem to stock them.

Anyway thank you! :D
