IDE RAID Question - Do I need to format my current drive to create a RAID 0 array?

If I have a single drive, already formatted with my OS installed and I buy a IDE RAID controller and extra drive, will I need to reformat the entire set? Or will the controller be able to stripe my existing data across both drives? Any help is greatly appreciated and any links to info would be wonderful as well.

It is possible to create a raid 1 array without losing data but if you want to create a raid 0 array you will have to format your hard drive. Sorry. You might want to look into a program like norton ghost. Once the array is set up and formatted, you can use ghost to restore your OS and data.
