IDE Raid, Is a PCI card better than if it was built into the MB? I am going to do DV editing, gaming, etc, with an AMD CPU.

Thanks!

doesn't matter... its still off the PCI bus... unless it was native like the SATA RAID in recent boards now.

Here's a little test for you. 8237 is native. :)

What MB and Proc has the native raid?

Will I be slowed down by the PCI bus with IDE RAID using Seagate 120 7200.7?

IIRC, the IDE RAID is on the PCI bus unless it is a built in South Bridge function.

The big advantage to the PCI Raid solution is that you can move the array with the PCI card to another system. With the onboard RAID you MAY be able to move it if the new mobo has the same/similar RAID controller.
