IDE Raid 1?

Has anyone had any good success with mirroring drives? I am wanting a resilant system and trying to maybe decided between using IDE or SCSI?

What motherboard do you guys recommend for IDE Raid?

I need to be able to support 6 IDE devices
2- hard drives in Raid 1
1- Hard drive for scratch + swap
1- IDE Zip drive
1- DVD +- RW burner
1- DVD player

I am going to need 100BaseT, Video, and etc.

cpu? For amd xp the gigabyte ga-7n400 pro2=$107 at newegg;look at gigabyte mobos in general as they still have a lot of ide cables,that one I named can support 8 ide devices.
