hi every1,
i want to put out my ide devices of my case. because my pc table is useless. to open/close ide devices (eg. CD-Rw) i have to go under the table.

so, how can i put out my ide devices of my case. ive searched ide-usb converter schemes on da net but couldnt find. i have few budget for this.
what can i do??

 
Wow, I hope that english isn't your native language. If it is, you need to go back to grade school.

As for removing an IDE device and making it external, there's a TON of USB/FireWire to IDE enclosures that will do exactly what you want. You'll want one of those, since they have their own power supply, NOT a good idea to try and run a molex connection the kind of distance you're talking, even IF they made them that long.

Go to newegg.com and search in the external enclosures. Or any of the other mutlitude of online resellers, or even local computer supply stores (like compusa).

I second this. You need to be aware that running your devices via USB instead of IDE or SATA will result in a performance hit, especially if you want to do this with a HDD and not just CD or DVD drives.

Get a decent enclosure, pop in the drive, plug it in and whammo, your good to go.

I think the OP should consider a desktop case. That way he does not have to dive under his desk every time he wants to mess with his machine or insert CDs, or resort to USB enclosures that takes a performance hit and have a tangle of cables to boot.

That's why I've never used a tower. 😀

the best solution for you would be to get a desktop case (flat that can go under a monitor) or get an external usb 2.0/firewire enclosure.

there are some pci backplates that bring 4 pin molex connectors to the outside of your case, but i dont think i know of any that bring ide cables.
