Okay so i have 2 ide cables pluging into the mother board. The one half of the side works- connecting to 2 hardrives. However my other half wont work at all. I tried different combinations of drives, cables, but it just wont detect anything. I made sure everything was plugged in but still doesnt. Do any of you guys know what the problem might be and how i can check and fix this problem? thank you.

check for bent pins in the connector, and make sure both channels are enabled in the bios.

Check the drive jumpers on the problem channel. You may need to try different combinations switching which one is master/slave etc. Also, try setting both as Cable Select. You may even try a different ribbon cable altogether.
