Hi, just wondering what the experts would think is the best set up for the following components in my PC.

Western Digital 120JB hdd
LiteOn 16X standard DVDROM
LiteOn 40X-12x-48x CDRW
Sony DRU500A DVD+-RW

At the moment I think they are setup in the following way (I dont' know if there's a way to check?)

HDD on primary/master
CDRW on secondary/master
DVDROM on secondary/slave

Going to put the DVDRW in soon and was wondering where the best place to put it would be? Would it be best if I get rid of either the DVDROM or CDRW so things run a bit smoother and simpler? or does it not make any difference whatsoever.

Hehe 3 optical drives would be pretty cool, like having a 3 disc CD changer :) (I hate changing CDs, as soon as they come out with a changer I'm buying it).

I would set it up this way:

Channel 1:
HDD master and whichever is the least used of your optical drives slave (probably your DVD Rom).

Channel 2:
DVD-RW master and CD-RW slave

This would prevent the HDD from sharing the same channel with another device too much, and also if you were doing a straight CD copy from another disc, they wouldn't be sharing the same Bus either (which can be a problem with optical drives). I dunno when you would want/need to burn on the same channel, so putting them both there would make sense. The CD-RW is pretty redundant though, you may want to put it in a second rig, but again, a 3rd tray is nice :)

About 4 years ago Gateway had a 3 disk cd changer. You put the disks into a holder about 1/2 inch thick and put that into the drive. I purchased 2 extra holders, and regreted even looking at the device. A year later Sanyo had a 5 disk changer that was not much better.....

14k, I agree with chizow's sugestion.
