Hi,

my first IDE channel config:

1.) Master -> UDMA 100 HDD 20GB
2.) Slave -> UDMA 66 HDD 8.5 GB

Does this affect the performance of the master drive? Or is it possible to run 2 IDE HDDs with different UDMA modes at the same time at the same cable? Or is my first drive only running with UDMA 66 now?

Thanks for your help.

you are correct in that both drives will use UDMA66.

So, my conf.

1st IDE: master - ATA 66 HD, slave - ATA 100 HD
2nd IDE: master - ATA 33 CD-RW, slave - ATA 33 HD

What is my speed?

But the VIA IDE-Tool and Sisoft Sandra reports that the first IDE drive IS RUNNING at UDMA 100 and the second at UDMA 66. So what is true now? And I heard too that IDE is able to run 2 drives at different speeds at the same cable at the same time(as long as they are 66 or 100 devices -> 80 pin cable). :confused:

From my understanding, your UDMA00 device will potentially run at 100MB/s and your UDMA66 will potentially run at 66MB/s.

As to the question about the UDMA33 and UDMA100, the same holds true since UDMA100 controllers are backwards compatible to the slower devices.
