IDE keeps Disappearing after SATA

Hi All,
I have a SATA and my boot drive and a IDE and a second (slave) drive....
My IDE drive keeps disappearing in my system until I go and add hardware and select it.

AMD 64 3200
MSI K8t Neo (VIA chipset no LED's on SATA...that sucks)
512 meg of Crucial
Seagate 160gig SATA
WD 40 gig IDE
eVGA GForce FX 57 Ultra

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Im running a similar config with the same mobo as you. Im running a 74gb raptor on the VIA and a WD 250gb IDE drive. Do you have to add it everytime you load windows? Im not sure of the exact problem, because i had no issue with this setup. Try going in the Disk Management utility and see if your drives showing up there when you start up. I have my IDE HD on the IDE2 channel all by itself, the optical drives on IDE1, and then the raptor on the VIA. How do you have yours connected?

I have the IDE on primary and the a CD Rom and DVD on the secondary....
Wonder if i should flip them.

It just goes away after a while and I have to do add new hard ware to get it back. I also goes away from divice manager.

Thanks

Are the cables securely connected? Perhaps they are loose and thats whats causing it (although I assume you checked that already). Well, its up to you if you want to flip em, but it won't hurt to try.

Hey... cords are good.
But, I think I'll try... it would be funny to see what happens?
Thanks
