I want to use my trusty NEC 3550A in my new Dell Inspiron 530. Can someone point me towards what sort of adapter/cables I need to be able to hook this up to my SATA motherboard? Is there anything I will need to change in the bios afterwards?

Thanks!

Not sure what a generic SATA mobo is. I have a new one and it has 4 SATA ports, but also a PATA (IDE) port. ID your mobo and we can give you a specific answer.

Thanks! Sorry I wasn't as clear as I would have liked.

This is exactly what I need. The motherboard, as you noted, in this new Dell inspiron 530 has no PATA (IDE) ports. I just wanted to be able to use my older NEC with the IDE in this new rig.

The links to the products at NewEgg are exactly What I needed!

Thanks! :)
