IDE drive doesn't show in windows?

I have a problem. Just bought a computer with 2 S-ATA drives (not RAID). Then I mounted my old IDE harddrive using the IDE1 slot on the motherboard (I set IDE drive as master). Windows boots fine, but it doesn't register the IDE drive? Any ideas why?

Hi, and thanks for the tip about looking in the BIOS. I just assumed the harddrive was detected by the BIOS and the problem was elsewhere, but when I looked it wasn't there. So I tried to set the stripping on the harddrive to "single" instead of "master" thinking it might be one of those harddrive that doesn't like to be alone on one IDE channel and be set to master. And voila! Problem solved 🙂

If it appears in your bios..you may need to initialize the disk...Have you done this before?..if not...open control panel/administrative tools/computer managament/disk management..if the drive appears there..right click on it and select Initialize.
