IDE device hookup question

I sold my old Lite-on CDR to a friend. I am going to hook it up for her. She has a Maxtor 5400 rpm drive, an internal 250 meg Zip drive, and CD-ROM. Usually on my systems I use the RAID ports to hook up each device on it's on channel. What is the best way to add these drives to a system with only two IDE ports?

Thanks

In my opinion from experience:

IDE1 M Maxtor HD
S 250MB Zip Drive

IDE2 M CD-Rom
S Lite-On CDR

Hope this helps 🙂

Good luck... i've built at least 10 or so computers... and only once has it ever worked from the get go... almost every time that it doesn't a gawd damn zip drive screws it up. some zip drives are good boys and some are really picky and don't want to be set as slaves. :| Hope it all works well for you. 🙂

I'd put the CDR with the Zip drive so you can burn from both your CD-ROM and HD with the same effectiveness. Devices on the same IDE channel as a CDR often do not burn as well as devices from a different channel. That's what Nero says at least.🙂
