IDE Detection problem

*update* I moved my HDD and CD to the Secondary IDE and it detected them immediately. So i guess my primary IDe channel is messed up. What can i do to fix that? It kind of sucks only being able to have two things hooked up.

Ok, so my home-built Epox 8rda+ now takes about 20-25 seconds to detect the IDE Drives on bootup. I have 512 Corsair DDR memory and a Seagate 80gb hooked up as my only master drive. I have a Cd-burner on the second IDE.

On perhaps a related or unrelated note. 2 DVD burners that i previously had hooked up (one through IDE one through USB) will not correctly burn DVD's. They burn for a few minutes then i get drive errors.

Both these problems started at about the same time...i think they are related.

Anyone have any advice? I tried to change the IDE cables but that didn't seem to work. Next step is to upgrade firmware on the 8rda...

Any help is appreciated.

Thank You.

*edit - this is not a new build, its about 2 years old.

Look for an inexpensive PCI (IDE) card.
