I wanna IDE Controler PCI-Card.
I want to use it for various HDs while I use the MOBO's onboard channels for optical drives.
I don't want to spend a lot of money.
The four listed below run between $15-$17.
I've heard that there can be problems using a Silicon Image based card if your MOBO uses an SI chipset.
I've heard that ITE is one of the best for HDs.
Thanks for any help
The chipsets I've found are ...
ITE IT8212 (In an ITE Card)

Silicon Image Sil0680 (in a Syba Ultra ATA 133 Card) (may be the same as the one at newegg

SYBA PCI Ultra ATA/133 IDE host controller (SIL0680) Model SD-ATA133R Retail

Koutech PCI to ATA RAID Controller Card, Model "PIR133" -RETAIL
http://www.newegg.com/app/View...=15-104-214&depa=0
I found a couple at NewEgg and one at ComputerGeeks and one at 4linkcomm.
1 has 256-bytes buffer.
The others have 128-bytes buffer or don't mention the buffer size.
Some mention that they support Raid and non-Raided drives at the same time.
Some don't stipulate if they do or don't support that feature.
Some support a mix of ATA133 and non-ATA133 drives.
Some mention that ATA133 MUST be Raid with ATA133.
One had a customer complaint that identical drives had to be used or he had problems.
Some mention that they can coincide with the on board IDE controlers in use.
Others don't mention if they play well together.
Some come with cables...some don't (no big deal).
