I have 4 HDDs, and currently have 1 CDRW and 1 CDROM, but intend to get a new CDRW and a DVD, and keep my CDROM. This'll give me 7 drives, a tad more than the on-board controller will handle :disgust: What's a good one (and why)?

get a promise ide controller card? either ata 66 or ata 100 depending on your drives. remember to get the ata66 cables to go with the cards.

if not you may like to consider a raid controller card

depends if u want RAID or not...either way, promise makes one of the better IDE controller cards.
i.e. fastrak 100

why: - performance, (driver) support, compatibility/stability...

I have the ARCODuplidisk which is RAID 1 and on top of any controller card. Though it'd be nice to have the option of RAID 0, or 5 or some of the higher ones, I'm not chomping at the bit for these...

you will have your motherboard and the promise card. each can handle 4 drives to give a total of 8
