IDE connections to new SATA Drives

I recently purchased two new Samsung 1 terabyte drives for my computer that only comes with IDE connections. I forgot that they changed the connectors with those Satas.

There seem to be a lot of different cards out there. Which SATA PCI card should I get and do I need to get some other Sata cables to plug in to the new drives.

Or possibly is there some Sata to IDE adapter that can be used. The ones I have seen online have reviewed poorly. They don't seem to work that well.

I tried one budget SATA to IDE adapter. It capped the performance to about 66MBs which only affected sequential performance. 1TB HDDs nowadays easily can transfer over 66MB/s sequentially. However in the end, with everyday use you might not notice it.

However a budget SATA PCI card can cost less and it's probably easier to find one that won't cap performance.
 
I've had good luck with promise ata/sata cards.
Assuming you aren't using raid most cards won't give you a problem.
The sata to ide adapters are hit and miss in my experience.
 
My experience echoes Soulkeeper's, except that my Promise adapter supports RAID quite well.
