IDE cable question

Would it matter if I reverse the IDE cable and have the "short" side of it connected to the mobo ide controller? It's a standard IDE cable with 3 connectors, but the ribbon on one side of the middle connector is much longer than on the other (I want to have that side connected to the drives). Might be a stupid question, but what the heck :)

dp004i,
Well this might be a silly answer :)
I've had some Mobos that it would work with, and some that it wouldn't.
You'll just have to try it and see.
:D

I think it matter if you have ATA 33/66/100 drives and MOBO that supports higher than ATA 33

not sure though.. although past experience tells me that you can only connect one way if you have mutiple drives with different UDMA speed
