IDE cable question

If I have 1 hard drive and 1 CD burner

Should I put the hard drive as master and the cd rom as slave on one cable

or Give them each their own IDE channel?

will this make any difference?

I would put them each as master on their own cables. Put the hard drive on the primary and the CD-ROM on the secondary. It will help a little on CD to HD copies.

How significant will it be though? I wanted to use 1 cable to minimize case clutter.

It will really be insignificant unless the CD drive operates in PIO mode. If the optical drive operates in any form of DMA mode, you will be fine

I'm running 1 HDD on IDE 0 and one optical drive on IDE 1 in this case. No clutter there.

That looks like the Antec SLK3700AMB case. Where did you put those extra cables from the PSU? I tried to make my case look neat but I cannot. Cables are everywhere. It looks like you sleeve the PSU?
