IDE Bad on P3 Mobo?

I recently bought an ASUS TUEG-VM to fit a P3 Coppermine 933/133MHz CPU I have had lying around. I set everything up and when I tried to install Win2k Pro off the CD, it gave me lots of file copy errors, but it eventually got the OS on there. I think files got corrupted, because the OS crashes constantly. I was wondering if the IDE controller could be faulty, since I have exchanged hard drives, CD drives, cables (got new 80-wire one for it), but none affected the results. The RAM was tested okay by both Memtest and in another board; as was the CPU.

I have a feeling the IDE controller is bad. What do you all think of this?

The entire system:
P3 Coppermine 933MHz
ASUS TUEG-VM mATX Board
PQI 256MB PC133 SDRAM
Integrated AC'97 sound, Intel Extreme Graphics
Quantum Fireball 40GB 5400RPM ATA-66 HDD
Hitachi 16x DVD-ROM

Thanks,
Zach

The PSU is a Raidmax model KY-520ATX (420W max). It's a cheapy, but supplies stable voltage at this low power system. I have used it before on another board with the same CPU to install Windows fine.

Could it be a power outlet issue?

Can you try setting the system up from another circuit in the house/flat? Or even at a friend's place?
Then again,
If you have swapped out everything else, then you could try a BIOS flash with the latest ver, and latest ver chipset drivers.

I tried all onboard IDE. I ordered a SYBA PCI ATA-133 controller from newegg today. If it still doesnt work at least I have another use for it.

Thanks,
Zach
