Can someone tell me if I can use a SATA HDD and a IDE DVD RW together on the same motherboard. I'm putting together my first computer. The mother board will support both but wasn't sure they will work together.

Yes of course you can. Go ahead.

Although, if you're buying new stuff, you're better advised to use a SATA DVDRW as well.
