There have been rumors that by the end of 2003, 10K SATA (replacement for IDE) hard drives will be the normal for super high performance non-SCSI drives. I would be interested also to hear more info about this.
I thought I remembered hearing about a laptop IDE drive that was 10k but I couldn't find mention of it anywhere. I did find mention of these drives in development.
