ID scanning at Casinos

I live in Shreveport, LA. There are 5 River Boat Casinos here, and about once a year, I'll end up going to one of them. In the past, they would ask for ID to make sure I was 21. Later, they started using machines that would read the magnetic strip on the back of your drivers license. This pissed me off, and I actually refused to go on the boat the first time I saw them doing this. My girlfriend got pissed at me for making a scene, so I just gave in the next time I went and let them read my info. Last friday, I went back and not only do the read the magnetic strip, but now the actually put your drivers license in a machine that takes a picture of it. If I wouldn't have been with the same girlfriend, then I would have walked have just left again.

95% of the people that go to the boats are 50+ years old, so they don't even ask them for ID. This sort of makes me think that they aren't gathering information, but it still pisses me off that they feel the need to do all this.

I see where he's coming from. If I want you to have a picture of my license I'll fcking give you one. Until then screw off. I guess most of you don't care if a private individual has you dl#, cc#, home address, etc..

I'd say no way to someone photographing my id, I have no way of knowing if thats kept secure and confidential, sounds like identity theft in the making. Lots of people even have their ssn on it.

This is a casino, not a private individual. One could easily scam the sh!t out of you everytime you use your credit card or order online. You let them copy your DL when you test drive a car. You do plenty of stuff on a daily basis where you expose your personal info. Quit being a paranoid douchebag.

Casinos are not always the most honest businesses. I can't say they're all bad but there are certainly more than a few shady ones. Not the type of people I want with my personal info. Little bit different than newegg.

Besides, if I use my CC online and I get a fraudulent charge on there I call my CC company, dispute the charge, and that's the end of it. However if someone jacks my whole identity because they have all the personal info on my license it's a bit different isn't it?

Quit being such a fvcking idiot. At least pretend to think your post through before you hit reply.

Hrmmmm If you go to most public auctions (at least in this area), they ask for your driver's license or state ID... they collect your SSN#, if available, and your DL/ID# if not.

A lot of bars around here use electronic card readers to verify your age... for that matter, some of the major gas stations around here now swipe your DL if you buy cigarettes, alcohol, anything that has an age stipulation on it.

Is it just the casino you don't trust? Or everyone? I wouldn't really want to just hand my ID to a casino unless I knew exactly what they were doing with it. But I have no problem swiping my ID at other places like fueling stations, bars, auctions, etc.

Hmmm, no one around here (Seattle) swipes the DL yet (at least not that I know of.) They switched the liscences around to have bar codes on the back but I don't know if anyone uses them, though if swiping them would mean no more staring at my DL, then my, then DL, them me again when I order a glass of wine, then I would be all for it.
