I'd like your opinions on a cpu upgrade.

I want to upgrade my wife's cpu. Her current system is an Epox 8K7A, Duron 750, and 2 x 256 pc2100. I was thinking to buy either a Duron 1.6 or an Athlon 1.3.
Then I found this chart at the Epox website. It looks like I can run my Athlon 2000+ on her motherboard. If that is so, then I can upgrade my cpu.
My system: Asus A7N8X Deluxe, Athlon 2000+, and 2 x 256 pc3200. I was thinking of either an Athlon XP 2400+ Thorton, Athlon XP 2400+ Tbred, or Athlon XP 2500+ Barton.

Am I correct in that Epox says that her mb will run an Athlon 2000+?
Which cpu would you recommend that I get?
Thanks for any info you guys/gals can give.

Merry Christmas everyone.

The barton 2500 is sweet, though less sweet since its locked now, but its still overclockable and that extra cache is useful. The xp2400 is pretty good as well, some are sweet overclockers, so its really up to you. I dont know about your issue with the compatibility of the xp2000+.

best of both worlds, giver her your cpu, and get the barton 2500+. what the guy said before was also true.

Sorry to but in, but I have just ordered a Barton 2500 and when you say it is locked - how does this restrict it?

Can you still change the FSB and Multiplier etc?

Cheers

Mark.

Thanks for the replies. I was eyeing the Barton with all of its muscle. I've never oc'd and I don't really have the time at the moment so that is not a big issue for me.
