I'd like to know where the press got their info from

Jurors in the case for Paul Morse, Hutchinson, deliberated about 4 1/2 hours Wednesday before informing the court shortly before 7 p.m. that they were deadlocked 9-to-3 and were making no progress.

9 to 3? I sat on that jury and no way in hell was it 9 to 3 when I was dismissed. It was bouncing between 6 to 6 and 7 to 5. It is a great feeling to know that my tax dollars are going to be spent on another trial.

:p

I was referred to as "The Asshole" several times in the deliberation room so I figured here is a safer bet. ;)

I'm a little confused. Are you saying the jurors lied to the reporter? Whatever final vote they reported to the judge would be public record, no?

Final vote is not reported to the judge as far as I know. If so, the foreperson can't count.

Really? I always thought the judge would want to know how far apart they were (or not) before deciding whether to have them deliberate longer.

Welcome to the real world. As you've discovered, any time you know a lot about something in the news, you know that it's usually reported inaccurately. I just assume that anything I ever read or hear is way wrong. Take it all with a grain of salt. Or a salt mine.

Corrected it for you. Yes indeed, it's good to know that justice isn't a "lowest cost" item yet either. Although I don't think you meant it that way.

New reporters very rarely ever get these things right - it's all in the headline and shock value delivered in the article, that's all from my point of view. If that offends someone, my experience has been horrible. I've had a few articles written on me, and every time, something or the other is incorrect. I've requested to be able to proofread it before publication, but that never happens. I don't waste my time with most of them any more...
