For those of you who love the classy, sporty, yet highly refined styling present within all Audi vehicles.

You know that Quattro was invented in 33AD by Chuck Norris, but due to the nature of the system, had to be hidden from humanity, and was later uncovered by the Germans of Ingolstadt sometime in 1980. It was only then that the ultimate drivetrain manifested itself in a rally car that dominated its competition. Today, the Gift of Quattro has bestowed upon us the RS4, one of the best (if not the best) ultra sport sedans in existence, and the R8, a truly beautiful piece of engineering that captivates the spirit of Audi philosophy - leadership through technology; truth in engineering :D

Basically, you have a soft spot for Audis. You can love other cars too :p

quick question, does the quattro system in the RS4 use the original torsen system? or the newer (crappy) electronic system? I recall that a few years ago they used the crappy system in a few cars (i think the A3). I do believe they are back to using torsens though.

My first car was an Audi 5000 Station Wagon. It had 5 cigarette lighters, which was fun (even though i don't smoke)

i think it still uses a mechanical based torsen system. although newer quattro models default to a 60/40 rear/front split, rather than 50/50.

I drive an ancient 5000 turbo quattro... Original quattro, no torsen. Manual locker for the center and rear diff, open front diff.

I chipped it so now it runs 14PSI or so, maybe 225hp neighborhood. Not the fastest car on the road in the summer, but it hauls ass in the winter (which we have 6 months of...)

first gen quattro (1980):
front - open
middle - locker
rear - locker

2nd gen (1989):
front - open
mid - torsen
rear - locker

third gen :
f & r - computer controlled locker
middle torsen
(I think... not sure what year it started.. mid 90's?)

I'm not an owner (sad face), but I love Audi's and have for a long time. There's a good chance we'll get the wife an A3 or the upcoming A4 in the next few years. Audi's are always classy and have a very classic beauty in them. The interiors are unbelievable and they always pack a technology punch from DI to the Dual Clutch transmission...I love everything about them. If we buy a A3...it is definitely going to have the 2.0DI engine with the DSG (or S-tronic...can't remember what they are calling it these days) transmission.

Anybody test drive the Q7 yet. Looks nice and if it rides like the A6 or A8 it should be some sweet machine.

since the Q7 and touraeg are similar, i'm going to guess that the Q7 is fairly good. Apparently after the first 2 years of touraeg production, VW fixed the electronics issues and they are now excellent SUV's.

the only thing i find odd is that a VW touraeg and Audi Q7 have the same starting price
