Given all the parameters, I too would suggest a nice Seiko for your bro.

They make really nice watches and watches under $500 in the investment category would be disappointing to people who are looking for something "shiny and modern".

i guess if you're involved in a business where looks and presentation are extremely important an expensive watch would be useful. of course i'd do my best to avoid any position like that.

that's anything manager/equivelent or above

yea watch mechanisms are so old tech now. its just jewelry for men.

theres this new digital paper watch thing

The "low" technology factor, in combination with art, engineering and craftsmanship is what makes mechanical watches unique and desirable to those that have the watch bug. You don't buy a luxury watch for just timekeeping, since a $50 watch can do as good a job.

some citizen eco-drives are cluttered, but some just do not like chronographs. there are other eco-drives that are definitely under your price cap, and look great. i got my dad one, but that was when i worked for a citizen dealer, so i got it at cost.

you MIGHT be able to get a Tag F1 at around 550, with the rubber strap you might be able to get it under 500. the chronograph obviously costs more (at least 200.00) so these are for just their basic watches. they are quartz, so it would depend on what you wanted to get him.

Too bad the F1 is kinda cheap looking.

seiko are awesome, my dads big ol' seiko dive watch is older than me (going on 21), has been diving with him thousands of times and is still in great condition.

for a lot less, my citizen promaster dive watch is excellent, 200M water resist so it's perfect for diving, and rugged enough to take the worst a big night on the booze can throw a it so far ;) (i've had it about two years).

I bought my husband an invicta watch for his birthday.
He loves it and I got a really good deal for high quality.
